Today represents the day that Jesus was crucified for us. Jesus took our place in judgment from God the Father and willingly laid His life down for all who will truly believe. Today, I said a prayer for this Good Friday.
1 Peter 2:24-25: “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
We do not have to die a crucifixion type of death for our sins; JESUS did that for us! In a figurative sense (not literally), though, we need to crucify ourselves – crucify our old sinful selves. We need to nail our past sins upon the cross and die to those sins. Once and for all, accept the gift of Jesus and crucify your sins where Jesus died. Today is the day, die to your old self and be reborn in the spirit of Jesus. Give it all up, everything! You will gain everything that God wants you to have, which will, in turn, be everything you need.
My Prayer This Good Friday
“Thank you, God, for allowing Jesus to die for us. Thank you for the many blessings you give us, more than we could ever count or name. Today, I pray that I continue to die to my old nature and become more Christlike. Only in You Lord can I do this. I am not worthy, and I am very weak apart from You.
Lord God, we pray for those who need to put their complete faith in You and not in the world or themselves. We pray that Your hands and feet reach out to them and show them Your truth. Lord, I pray this also for myself. Give me the strength to nail my wants and desires on the cross and long for Your perfect will and Your perfect provision for me. I also pray that others will pray the same.
For those who have put their complete faith in Jesus, I pray that they will ultimately surrender to You, Lord God. I pray that You help us crucify our sinful hearts every second of every day for the rest of our lives and to become more Christlike in everything.
God, only You can help us with this. We know we cannot help ourselves. We pray for your perfect Will and infinite wisdom in our lives, in our thoughts, in our ways, in our truths, in our minds, in our souls, in our hearts; IN OUR EVERYTHING. This I pray in the Name of Jesus. Amen.”
Friends, you are just one step away. It again reminds me of the Casting Crowns song, “One Step Away,” which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hktP9LHaRI0. It truly can be a Good Friday if we believe.
